Transfiguration of Our Lord 2025

Sunday, March 2nd 2025

Our Lord Jesus took three of His disciples up on the mountain. He did so that they might pray. And as Jesus was praying, we learn that Peter and those who were with him, namely James and John, that they were heavy with sleep. If that describes you this morning in this place of prayer, you might take some comfort that you are in distinguished company. And this is not the only time this threesome will have trouble staying awake when they are supposed to be praying. It will happen too in the Garden of Gethsemane when Jesus will question them “Could you not watch one hour?” But as Jesus’ visage was suddenly altered so that it shone in terrifying glory, they became fully awake as they were provided a glimpse of glory.
