A Unique Life of Service

I thought of a line in the movie “A View from the Top” in which comedian Mike Meyers is reproving a flight attendant, “You put the wrong emPHASis on the wrong sylLable.” In Jesus’ line in Mark’s Gospel, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many,” I am concerned that we choose the right word to emphasize, especially in choosing between “serve” and “ransom”. It is important that “ransom” gets the emphasized accent, so that we properly understand in what way Jesus serves us. I hope to explain…
