Disappointment Over Unfulfilled Expectations

Unfulfilled expectations result in some of our biggest disappointments. Some of the expectations were false to begin with. This certainly holds true with the Christian Faith. We expect and anticipate God to work in a certain way, and when He fails to act in this manner we can be driven to doubt and despair. Even among very faithful Biblical characters, such as John the Baptist, they had certain expectations that were not fulfilled in the manner and time that they thought they might be. They had to learn, as do we, that promises far greater than we can imagine are intended for us, and the fulfillment of these promises largely awaits a future date - when Christ returns again at the end of the age...
